The NSB7UIA-10  delivers one of the most energy efficient, flexible, and manageable blade server product in the market. Flexible and scalable, the NSB7UIA-10  packs 10 server blades with 20 Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® processors or 40 Quad-Core AMD Opteronâ„¢ processors. Easy to use remote management tools, Gigabit Ethernet switch modules, InfiniBand switch modules, as well as 3+1 redundant high-efficiency power supplies keep the system running 24 x 7 at peak performance. Space Optimization
Housed within a 19" industry-standard rack, NSB7UIA-10 servers reduce server footprint in the data center. Power, cooling and networking devices are aggregated in the rear of the chassis which optimizes the required amount of space.

Up to ten blade servers can be installed in a 7U chassis. Compared to the 10U of rack space that ten 1U servers would normally require as individual servers, the NSB7UIA-10  provides about 50% density savings with 60 servers and 24 switches in a 42U rack.

Cable Reduction

The NSB7UIA-10  server chassis enclosure greatly simplifies the cabling process by aggregating cabling of ten servers at once. Up to 90% of network, power, and KVM cabling required for ten 1U servers are reduced by moving to blade servers in a single chassis. These cabling reductions continue across networking, SAN connectivity, and management controllers.

Reducing the number of cables speeds up the deployment of servers and helps reduce troubleshooting issues by presenting fewer physical connections to the servers.

The innovative NSB7UIA-10  offers enhanced system computing density, and unmatched flexibility. Applying Newtech's application-optimized engineering philosophy, each NSB7UIA-10  blade module delivers true server functionality including up to four processors (in select models), optional InfiniBand mezzanine HCA, and supports either SATA or SAS hard drives.

To protect customer's investment, each blade module is fully upgradeable for future CPUs. The common system architecture ensures each blade is fully inter-changeable as well.

NSB7UIA-10  networking options include two different modules for Gigabit Ethernet connectivity. In addition Newtech offers a powerful InfiniBand switch for connecting the blades to 4X DDR (20 Gbps) InfiniBand networks. All NSB7UIA-10  networking options are hot-pluggable. The Ethernet modules can also be configured for redundant or dual load-sharing connections (or both).

Gigabit Ethernet Modules

Switches
The Gigabit Ethernet switch module (part ID SBM-GEM-001) includes ten external 1-Gb/s uplink (RJ45) ports and fourteen internal 1-Gb/s downlink ports for connection to the NSB7UIA-10's LAN interfaces. This layer 2 Ethernet switching module also has two internal Ethernet paths to the CMM(s) to allow configuration, management, and control of the switch and its ports through a browser-based management interface. Offering such advanced features as link aggregation (static), VLAN support, and Jumbo Frame support, the switch provides a connection between the Ethernet controller integrated on the mainboard and external Ethernet systems.

Pass-Through
The Gigabit Ethernet Pass-through Module (part ID SBM-GEM-002) is a non-configurable pass through module that includes fourteen 1-Gb/s external uplink (RJ45) ports and fourteen internal 1-Gb/s downlink ports for the SuperBlade®'s LAN interfaces. This module also has two internal Ethernet paths to the CMM(s) for viewing module temperature and voltage (but not for configuration since all connections are fixed).

InfiniBand Switch Module
The InfiniBand Switch Module (part ID SBM-IBS-001) is a switch-based, point-to-point bi-directional serial link system. It provides high-speed interconnectivity among the blade modules and to external InfiiniBand peripherals. The InfiniBand switch supports 4X DDR connections (20 gigabits per second) the fastest currently offered in the industry.

InfiniBand Mezanine HCA Cards
For any blade to access the InfiniBand module, it must have an InfiniBand mezzanine HCA card installed on its mainboard. The AOC-IBH-001, AOC-IBH-002 and AOC-IBH-003 mezzanine cards provide this 20Gbps connectivity (4x DDR) through the backplane to the InfiniBand switch module.
